Robusta — Masaka 84 SCA
1,200m altitude · Natural process · Single origin
Natural processing dries the whole cherry before milling, allowing the fruit's sugars to infuse the bean. The result is a heavier body, deeper sweetness and the earthy, chocolatey character this Robusta is known for.

Every step — from harvest to roast — happens in Uganda. We work directly with our Masaka producers and leading local Q-graders to refine roast profiles that express origin truthfully, not convenience.

French press · medium-coarse Moka pot · fine Espresso · fine AeroPress · medium

Lower brewing temperature tames bitterness and lets the natural sweetness come through. Try it with a splash of milk — the body holds up beautifully.

What makes this Ugandan Robusta distinctive?
It's a naturally processed single-origin Robusta selected and cupped with Ugandan Q-graders. Most Robusta is treated as a commodity. This one is treated as a specialty coffee — and the difference shows in the cup.
What does natural process mean?
Natural (or dry) processing dries the whole coffee cherry before removing the fruit. This allows the bean to absorb more of the fruit's sugars during drying, producing a heavier body, deeper sweetness and more complex flavour than washed coffees.
Isn't Robusta lower quality than Arabica?
Robusta has a reputation for bitterness and low quality — but that's largely because most Robusta is grown and processed for volume, not flavour. Fine Ugandan Robusta, properly sourced and roasted, is a genuinely distinct and enjoyable coffee with character Arabica can't replicate.
Does it work well with milk?
Yes — the full body and natural sweetness mean it holds up well in milk-based drinks. A flat white or latte made with this Robusta is rich and satisfying without being sharp.
How fresh is the coffee when it arrives?
We dispatch within 72 hours of roasting. Every bag is roast-dated so you can track freshness from the day it was roasted, not the day it was shipped.
